Wolly 3 Pocket Planter
Make your walls gorgeously lush with our Wolly Pockets! Wally Pockets are lightweight modular containers that are made of sustainably manufactured materials (100% recycled plastic water bottles) and are hand-stitched in the USA with durable UVA resistant thread. Wally’s breathable front panel allows soil to aerate naturally, encouraging plants to air prune while maintaining even levels of moisture. The planter turns bare walls – home, garden or anywhere else – into living walls. The modular design incorporates a wide variety of possibilities
For indoor applications, Wolly Pockets are best suited for professional installers who are running drip irrigation systems. If watered incorrectly, our Pro Pockets can become damp and result in potential water damage to untreated drywall. Moreover, while our pockets are an inorganic material, the combination of overwatering and organic soil matter can aid in mold growth. We always advise that our pockets are installed with a protective barrier between the drywall and the felt pocket; this can be something as simple as a poly shower curtain cut to scale.
While our Wolly pockets are lined with a waterproof barrier, this lining only extends 25% of the way up the front panel, which allows the front of the pocket/soil to breathe. If hand watering, it is imperative that soil be packed at a 2" slant; lower at the back and higher at the front. This slant will create a reservoir for watering and will prevent water from saturating the front of the pocket. Watering should be performed with a fine point dram that is aimed toward the back panel of the pocket.

Every Wally comes with detailed instructions on installation, planting and maintenance.
Let’s Hang: Hang the Wolly by drilling holes for the fasteners, attaching the fasteners and then screwing the Wolly into the fasteners through built-in grommets. If hanging multiple Wally’s, you can overlap the grommets horizontally for a tight fit and better living wall presentation.
Soil: Fill Wally half way up with potting soil. If using automated drip irrigation, install and adjust now.
Spillers, Fillers, and Thrillers: Arrange your plants in the Wolly’s while still in their plastic pots to design your living wall and see what the end product will look like. Use Spillers, plants which will hang over the edge of the pocket, to cover the edges of the pockets. Use Thrillers, plants which you find visually stimulating, to create your desired visual composition. Use Fillers, big full plants, to fill in any spaces left in your design.
Plant your Plants: Beginning with the plants that will go at the top of your wall, remove plants from plastic buckets and plant firmly in Wally against the rear tongue of the pocket. Top off soil so that the root balls are covered and the soil comes up to no more 1/2” from the front of the pocket.
Water Wolly’s Tongue: Water the tongue (rear felt surface) with 2 cups of water per pocket. Wolly One needs 2 cups, Wolly Three needs 6 cups, etc. Water only the tongue, not the plant itself, to take advantage of the built in reservoir. And if your plants enjoy misting, go for it!
